Concept
To make user-generated product information from Amazon.co.uk accessible to people doing product-related searches on Google.
Previously
There are 6 kinds of user-generated content on Amazon.co.uk

These are not very accessible to Google Crawler
- Poor navigation - nothing to/around forum
- DHTML hides many behind 'Show More' buttons - often requiring multiple clicks

"3. COPYRIGHT, AUTHORS' RIGHTS AND DATABASE RIGHTS
All content included in or made available through any Amazon Service, such as text, graphics, logos, button icons, images, audio clips, digital downloads and data compilations is the property of Amazon or its content suppliers and is protected by Luxembourg and international copyright, authors' rights and database right laws. The compilation of all content included in or made available through any Amazon Service is the exclusive property of Amazon and is protected by Luxembourg and international copyright and database right laws. You may not extract and/or re-utilise parts of the content of any Amazon Service without our express written consent. In particular, you may not utilise any data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools to extract (whether once or many times) for re-utilisation any substantial parts of the content of any Amazon Service, without our express written consent. You may also not create and/or publish your own database that features substantial parts of any Amazon Service (e.g. our prices and product listings) without our express written consent."- Looks like it needs permission !
- Wonder if Amazon explicitly adopts the copyright of user contributions - reviews, comments, questions, answers, forum posts ?
- "All content included in or made available through any Amazon Service ... is the property of Amazon or its content suppliers"
- Looks like user contributions remain the copyright of the user
- Perhaps that is accidental - probably was intended for 'digital products' - MP3s, eBooks etc !
- "8. REVIEWS, COMMENTS, COMMUNICATIONS AND OTHER CONTENT
If you post content or submit material, and unless we indicate otherwise, you grant: (a) Amazon a non-exclusive, royalty-free and fully sublicensable and transferable rights to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, and display such content throughout the world in any media; and (b) Amazon, its sublicensees and transferees the right to use the name that you submit in connection with such content, if they choose. No moral rights are assigned under this provision." - Looks like user contributions remain the copyright of the user
- "sublicensable and transferable rights" - OK with permission
- "Links promoting a particular Product must connect directly to detail page for that Product on the Amazon Sites."
- That is awkward - links to the original source review, question or forum thread would be more logical !
Of course, that is a click or two away from buying.
Maybe inject a 'Buy!' link next to each UGC link ?
